This is the story of an Irish kid who grew up living above his German Aunt’s taproom....

To me it wasn’t a bar. It was where I lived. It was the center of my family’s universe. It was where we celebrated our holidays, our children’s births and more importantly it was where we gave our dead a proper send off. To me the greatest place on earth wasn’t the North Pole. It wasn’t Disney World. It was my Aunt Annie’s Taproom.

This is the an excerpt from Joey Callahan’s one man show based on his experiences growing up in and around his Aunt Annie and her taproom.
Callahan easily captivates the audience with the many characters he introduces. You will see the Irish American story trough the eyes of a young boy with a love of making performing known to his family as "little Joey".

Every day I would run home from school to my Aunt Annie’s taproom. If I could make my Uncle and his patrons/bar-flies laugh I would be rewarded with shot glasses of beer. I was the only 8 yr old in AA.

It was where I got my first taste of performing, not to mention my first taste of Jameson.

Being Irish and having a relative who owns a bar is like having Santa Claus as your next-door neighbor.
